Cards to Draw: 3
Klondike is the classic Solitaire (also called Patience) game and remains the most popular single-player card game. Its inclusion in early Microsoft Windows made it synonymous with “Solitaire”, so players worldwide know the rules. At Play-Solitaire.xyz, you can play unlimited games of Klondike for free on your desktop, with no downloads or registration. The goal is simple: build all cards into four foundation piles (one per suit) from Ace through King.
The game starts with a tableau of seven columns. The leftmost column has one card (face-up), the next has two (one face-up), and so on up to seven cards in the rightmost column. The remaining cards form the stock at the top left. Above the tableau are four empty foundations for each suit. To win, you must move all cards into the foundations in ascending order by suit.
During play, you draw cards from the stock (one card at a time or three cards at a time, Turn-1 or Turn-3 mode) onto a waste pile, and then onto the tableau or foundations when possible. On the tableau, cards must stack in alternating colors and descending rank. For example, you can place a black 9 on a red 10. You can also move entire face-up stacks at once if they form a valid sequence. Only a King (or a sequence headed by a King) can start an empty tableau column. Helpful features like hints and undo are provided so players can learn the best moves.
Because Klondike deals are often challenging (only about 18–43% of random games are winnable), good strategy matters. Try to uncover hidden cards early and clear long piles first. We recommend starting with Turn-1 mode for easier play, as experts note “Turn 1… is an easier card game… chances of winning a Turn 1 game is higher than Turn 3”. As you play, focus on freeing face-down cards and building your Aces quickly. Over time you’ll improve your win rate.
