TriPeaks is a fast solitaire game about runs. Three overlapping peaks of cards stand over a single waste pile, and you clear them by playing cards one rank above or below the waste card, as far as the chain will go. A game takes a few minutes, and the best ones are long runs of ten cards or more. It is free here, with no download and no signup. Every deal has a number you can share, and Hint and Undo have no limit.
The deal builds three peaks from 28 cards in four rows: three cards at the tops, then six, then nine, then a bottom row of ten that joins the peaks together. Only the bottom row is face up. One card is turned onto the waste pile, and the other 23 go face down into the stock.
Look before you tap. When two cards play on the waste, follow each run in your head and pick the one that goes further. With a 7 on the waste, a 6 that leads on to a 5 and a 4 is worth more than an 8 that leads nowhere. Ties go to the card that turns a face-down card over, because a new card is a new chance to keep the run going.
Work on the peaks, not just the bottom row. The peak tops are freed last, and a game is usually lost on one or two cards stuck high in a peak. When you have a choice, take cards that open up the peak with the most face-down cards left.
Treat the stock as your budget. There are 23 cards in it and no second pass, so every turn you spend on a card that plays nothing is one fewer chance later. Play out your runs before you turn the stock, but a card held back can sometimes carry on a run from the next stock card. Remember that King and Ace connect: a run that reaches a King can go on through the Aces.
If you are stuck, Hint points at the card that starts the longest run it can see, or at the stock when nothing plays, and Undo takes back as many moves as you like. Not every deal can be cleared, so a lost game is not always a mistake.
For another quick game, try Pyramid Solitaire. For longer ones, play Klondike Solitaire, FreeCell or Spider Solitaire.
